Grass and Grain fed beef
At Hepler’s Meats we are dedicated to providing 100% grass fattened beef at an affordable price. We’ve been in the beef cattle business for over 25 years and in the butchering business for 20 years. While we’ve always produced all natural beef fattened on grain, every year we have sold 100% grass fed beef to a few interested customers. Now we have dedicated an entire herd to sell as grass fed beef.
We will have approximately forty beef ready for slaughter in early summer or late fall to coincide with the lush grass finishing seasons in Northwestern PA. We will only be offering the 100% grass fed beef at these times due to the dramatic decline in the quality of the pasture in mid summer. The animals will all be under 24 months of age and should grade in the choice range, although leaner beef is available if requested. The beef are raised without artificial hormones, antibiotic vaccines, non protein nitrogen, or undue stress.
Unlike large slaughterhouses we are able to dry age our beef for 14 days which enhances the beef flavor. When you order beef from us you will not only be dealing with the farmer but also the butcher for an added convenience. All prices include cut, wrap and freeze.
